for all of you who suffer stress and rush because of work or maybe Chistmas ;-) I'm afrait that I am badly repetitive but I'v been so busy with works that I have had no time at all for any kind of Chistmas rush.

kaikille teille jotka kärsitte kiireestä ja stressistä työn tai ehkäpä joulun takia ;-) taida jo pahasti toistaa itseäni mutta töiden kanssa on ollut sen verran hoppu etten ole ehtinyt yhtään huolehtimaan joulusta.

Pikisaari

Winter sun is very low even at midday.
Pikisaari is island toward downtown. There used to be different kind of industry in old days, example enamel and wool factories, sawmill and foundry. In these days there is about 150 inhabitants, artist's and artisan's workshops and arts and crafts school.

Tähän aikaan vuodesta aurinko on kovin matalalla keskipäivälläkin.
Pikisaari on aivan Oulun keskustan edustalla. Entivanhaan siellä on ollut kaikenlaista teollisuutta mm. emali- ja villatehtaat, saha ja valimo. Nykyään Pikisaarta asuttaa noin 150 henkeä, siellä on taiteilijoiden ja käsityöläisten työhuoneita sekä käsi- ja taideteollinen oppilaitos.

Tänään on ollut sateista ja tuulista, juuri sopiva päivä jäädä sisätiloihin, sytyttää muutama kynttilä ja nauttia kuuma toti ;-)

Morning light - Aamuvaloa

For a change I made my daily shooting trip at morning, it was about 9:00 AM when I took this one at the bridge between Hietasaari and Pikisaari.

Vaihteeksi tein päivittäisen kuvausretkeni aamulla, tämä on otettu yhdeksän maissa Hietasaaren ja Pikisaaren välisellä sillalla.

Wooden house idyl - Puutaloidylli

And no, I haven't been at countryside ;-) but a few goats would be nice in the photo anyway. These houses are not far from downtown, only some 500 m, just walk over the bridge and you are by the City Library and the Theatre. In houses there are rental* apartments of the City of Oulu. Some of them are atelier apartments for artists and the rest are homes of ordinary (?) people.
*still are, but first suggestions to sell them to private market are made and inhabitants have started to fight on behalf of their homes.

Ei, en ole ollut maaseudulla ;-) vaikka pari vuohta kyllä piristäisi kuvaa entisestään. Nämä talot eivät ole kovin kaukana keskustasta, vain n. 500 m, kävely sillan yli ja olet kirjaston ja teatterin luona. Taloissa on kaupungin vuokra-asuntoja*. Osa on kunnostettu ateljeeasunnoiksi taiteilijoille ja osassa asuu tavallisia (?) ihmisiä.
*toistaiseksi, ensimäiset ehdotukset asuntojen myymisestä yksityisille markkinoille on jo tehty, ja asukkaat ovat aloittaneet taistelun kotiensa puolesta.

Fire escape

Rarely you can see this beautiful fire escape. I pass this house every time when I go to downtown by bike but today shadows was so nice that I had to stop and take this photo.

Merry Vappu!

There was a distant echo of loud hubbub from town, people celebrating the first of may, while I was having nice time with good food, wine and friends in Pikisaari, a little island near the city centre.
